All about RE Himalayan FI BS4

In March 2016 Royal Enfield launches much awaited and game changer for the market the brand's first adventure tourer the HIMALAYAN

This is the bike which comes with legendary changes from the brand and also new in its category as their tagline built for all roads, built for no roads this is the bike who comes with mono shock suspension all new 411cc motor and lots of refinement.

Last year Royal Enfield Himalayan do very good job and sells decently in the market and then some owners facing lots of issues with the motorcycle and then sales affect the overall chart then finally in April 1st when bs4 norm applied to the Indian motorcycle market Royal Enfield discontinues the sales of Himalayan for some improvements and now Royal Enfield re-launched the Himalayan and claiming lots of issues are gone completely from its predecessor.

  • Now the Himalayan comes with the major change Fuel injection and BS4
  • Well, bs4 is a different topic but the much-awaited thing is fuel injection and changes in the motorcycle.

Now powered by

Single Cylinder, 4 strokes, Air-cooled, SOHC, Fuel Injected, 411cc engine which produce 24.5 bhp of power at 6500 rpm with a 5-speed gearbox
with a maximum torque of 32 Nm at 4250 rpm

this will produce strong low-end torque for an off-road purpose which helps the rider to clear obstacles with more ease.

Now when we talk about engine so there is nothing major change in engine the only visible change in fuel supply the predecessor comes with a carbureted unit and now BS4 Himalayan comes with fuel injection unit this will provide much more stability at higher altitudes and engine response
now engine will more refined than before but there is no change in power and output engine will much smoother and punchier and because of FI unit motorcycle comes with improved mileage of 30 to 35km/lts

Gearbox is smoother than before and produces less vibration but vibrations are still here for some kind.

There is nothing change in the ergonomics of the bike it comes with 21-inch front and a 17-inch rear wheel with dual purpose Gripp tyres from CEAT, a 15-liter fuel tank now the fuel lid is black in color.

Brakes are the same, Himalayan comes with 300mm Disc, 2-piston floating caliper in front and 240mm Disc, 1-piston floating caliper at the rear but there is still ABS is missing we hope Royal Enfield provide ABS as soon as possible.

Rear Bybre Unit

Front Bybre Unit
Built quality will improve and now Himalayan comes with BS4 compliant engine with AHO (Auto Headlamp On)

other changes are slightly difficult to spot only changes are tank lid and footrest are improved than the predecessor and other ergonomics will remain the same.

My verdict,

I must suggest to wait for few months and see how the Himalayan perform in the market and then take a decision I hope royal Enfield Himalayan become a best affordable adventure tourer in the market.
